Som ni kanske sett så organiseras sedan ett tag Linux Mint i ”Local Communities” och vi är den officiella svenska. Se Clems text nedan.
There are 16 local Linux Mint communities across the World:
3 in Asia
12 in Europe
1 in South America
Local Communities promote our distribution in their locale, in their country and among people who do not speak English or who prefer to use their own language. They can organize the translation and the distribution of localized versions of the Linux Mint User Guide, and of the ISO images that we release. They can also translate our announcements and provide local support and communication media to Linux Mint users.
Some of these communities are very active. In France, LinuxMint-fr partnered with OXY Press to publish two magazine issues dedicated to the releases of Linux Mint 7 and 8. In Bangladesh, the Ubuntu Loco Team and Linux Mint Bangladesh joined forces and co-organized one of the biggest Linux event in the country. These initiatives need to be acknowledge and it’s important for our project to keep a close relationship with the Local Communities.
A new listing was published on the website to show the Linux Mint Local Communities.
A team will be formed with the community leaders of each local community so that we can talk about their needs and how Linux Mint and the Local Communities can help each others.
Jag är community leader i Linux Mint Sverige och det är nu dags att sätta samman en lokal grupp som ansvarar för att driva arbetet framåt.
Varje local community ansvarar för följande uppgifter enligt Clem:
Local communities are independent groups of Linux Mint users. They promote the distribution and they benefit from a very close relationship with Linux Mint.
The role of a local community is to:
Provide a place for users to gather, to support each others and to interact in their language
Translate the User Guide
Translate the ISO images
Organize localized or local events
Promote Linux Mint locally
Nuläge:
1, Vi har en hemsida som uppdateras för sällan och ett forum som är i bättre skick men som skulle behöva bli lite mer omsorg, t ex en ny template. Jag har precis gett tux-sven rättigheter så att han kan skriva på hemsidan och hoppas att det kan råda bot på de glesa uppdateringarna.
2, Den senaste svenska användarguiden är ruskigt gammal och vi behöver få till snabba översättningar till varje ny version.
3, Översättningarna av skivorna har varit snabba, men Isadora blev inte klar i tid och är fortfarande inte helt översatt. Jag har fått fullt upp med kommunpolitiken efter valet och kommer inte att översätta lika mycket framöver.
4, Vi har inte ordnat några event alls.
5, Vi har ingen strategi eller promotion-material. Många sprider ordet ändå.
Vi har alltså lite att ta tag i om vi vill och det finns gått om utrymme för folk som vill kliva fram och hjälpa till.
Jag är som sagt community leader och jag tänker mig någon form av meritokrati där alla som har bra idéer och vill göra något har möjlighet till det. Sedan så kanske jag måste vara lite försiktig med att ge rättigheter till oprövade kort så att inte hemsidan eller forumet kapas.
